Core Beliefs

Metro is a non-denominational Christian Church seeking to communicate the Ancient Biblical Truths in a modern and relevant way.

We’re striving to become the kind of church described in the Bible. A church with relevant teaching, heart-felt worship, honest friendships, constant prayer, and compassionate care for those in need. In short, we’d like to have the kind of contagious Christianity that can influence and encourage an entire community, one life at a time.

So whether you’re a spiritual seeker who’s just starting to ask questions about God, or a committed Christian who wants to sink the roots of your faith even deeper, you can find a home here at Metro City Church.

You’ll find that this is a place where you really matter because you matter to God.

Our Statement of Faith and Core Beliefs

Metro City Church is built on seven pillars of the Christian Faith.  You can think of these as ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS or building blocks to our faith.  Anyone who wishes to understand what drives this ministry must first have a grasp of what we believe about God, His Son, the Holy Spirit, and His Word.  These pillars are not all inclusive of our beliefs but explain the essentials of our faith.

  1. We Believe the Bible to be the only infallible, authoritative Word of God in its original text.
  1. We Believe that there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  1. We Believe that Jesus was God made flesh, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His substitutional and atoning death through His shed blood (simply put, Jesus took our rightful place on the Cross in order to pay for our sins.) We believe in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father in Heaven, and in His personal return in power and glory to Earth.
  1. We Believe that man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin by willful choice and is therefore spiritually lost and separated from a personal relationship with God. It is only through renewal by the Holy Spirit that salvation can be obtained. Salvation is a free gift of God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that begins with repentance of sin and accepting Jesus into one's life as Lord and Savior, Leader and Forgiver.  The works of man cannot earn salvation.
  1. We Believe in the Holy Spirit whose work is to bring man to repentance and by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
  1. We Believe in the eventual resurrection of the dead for both the Christian and the non-Christian, those who are in Christ will be resurrected for eternal life in Heaven with God and those who are not Christian will be resurrected for eternal life in Hell, separated from God.
  1. We Believe in the spiritual unity of believers in and through our Lord Jesus.

In Essentials Unity…In Non-Essentials Liberty…In All Things Charity

Our Guiding Principles

Metro City Church is based on three important principles, The Message, The Medium, and The Messengers. These principles directly support our vision, mission and strategy. We are committed to operating, both corporately and individually in a way that reflects these guiding principles.

The Message

The Bible is our standard for all belief, instruction, practice and policy. It is from the Bible that we receive insight into spiritual truth that results in a life that pleases God. This spiritual truth permeates our whole lives and is focused on the person of Jesus Christ. Our Biblical beliefs are not for sale, nor are they dependent on affirmation or acceptance by the culture in which we live. (Galatians 1:11-12, Romans 1:16, II Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 4:12)

The Medium

We are determined to deliver quality in all of our presentations. We believe that quality honors God. (I Corinthians 3:13) We will always strive not to bore our attendees and participants with staleness. (Genesis 1:1-31, Exodus 31:1-3) We will seek to be reliable and accurate in all of our activities, communications, and presentations. (Matthew 5:37, II Peter 1:16, I John 1:1-3) We will express our faith with a balance of head and heart, intellect and emotion. (Galatians 4:18)

The Messengers

We cannot do our work without a staff fully committed to Jesus Christ and to His ministry. (Matthew 12:30) We fully acknowledge that we are far from perfect; however, in all things and in all ways, our leaders must display an authentic pursuit of God and His holiness.

Beliefs Regarding Leadership

  • Character is more important than talent. (Acts 6:2, II Timothy 2:2)
  • We make every effort to avoid harming the cause of Christ by word, action or appearance, whether accidental or intentional. (II Corinthians 4: 1-2)
  • We recognize and encourage the God-given gifts in women as well as in men, following Scriptural guidelines. (Joel 2:28-29, Genesis 1:26-27)
  • We recognize that power is dangerous and that those in leadership must be careful not to misuse or take lightly any authority they hold. (I Peter 5: 2-3)
  • All staff and church leaders must strive to adhere to the fundamental qualifications for leadership laid out in I Timothy 3 and I Peter 5.
